On Mayhill

Welcome to MayHill, our studio, our farm, our home.

MayHill...our hearts were opened like a peony, tickled and coaxed by the ants of the garden.

MayHill...rise early to see the sunlight filter through the Six-Braided Tree.

MayHill...laying down in soft pasture we see the eagles soar above.

MayHill is cradled in The Olympic Peninsula of beautiful Washington state.  We are framed by the Puget Sound on the east, Mount Rainier is south, The Olympics on the west and  The Strait of Juan De Fuca north.  Bruce and I reside on MayHill's land and share this space with the most delightful wild and domestic creatures.  We believe that the land and all that reside there should be honored and protected and so we do not use any products that might harm the environment.  We compost, reuse and recycle.  We live simply and with respect and gratitude for all that we have.  We support a humane management of predatory wildlife and use NiteGuard as a tool to keep predators away from our livestock.

We are supporting members of  The Audubon Society, The Bamboo Society, Icelandic Sheep Breeders of North America , The Nature Conservancy and The Ocean Conservancy.  We give from our own resources to The Union Gospel Mission, The Tacoma Rescue Mission, The Salvation Army Women's and Children's Shelter, The Humane Society, St. Vincent De Paul, and local churches that serve those with need.  Since we have been there too, we know that "a leg up" means so much.

MayHill is a haven for local and migratory wild birds.  Avid birdwatchers, we have spotted 40 varieties of birds and waterfowl.
