Graceful Reciprocity

Blank Inside

A Story on the Back:

This old barn can be seen from the road, traveling east on Hwy. 530 toward the towon of Darrington in Washington. On my journey to the Cascades, I stopped by the side of the road to rest and enjoy.

I was astonished by its graceful reciprocity. At first blink, it appears that the vine stabilizes the aging structure, at least on one side, and adds a quality of delight and beauty to a somewhat dilapidated form.

The barn, once strong and sheltering, is now empty and the welcoming doorway is overgrown with tall grass, indicating that it has been years since used for livestock or storage; though it is also clear that the barn provides a path for this lush vine to stretch. Without the brave structure, the vine would ramble unremarkably.

The barn provides structure, the vine adornment. The marriage of these two caused me to lock-up the brakes, sit for a while and then capture its gift on photo for contemplation. Not always so, I find great peace in reciprocity now. Time brings reciprocity as a reality or challenge or gift as you will. Not purely about the barn or the vine, from the larger canvas of the road, this marriage is reciprocity at its finest.
